Ashley Sheekey
Site designed in collaboration with Chris Corby
Ashley Sheekey is an artist based in Brighton, UK.
I make work (drawings, ceramics, writing, collaborative projects) that explores my interest in the urban environment. I am especially intrigued by the overlap between public and private space, and the presence of generous and hostile design.
At the moment
This summer I'm spending seven weeks in Denmark as an apprentice at Hjorths Fabrik; a ceramic factory and museum that dates back to 19th century. I'm so excited to spend these weeks focussed on improving my technical skills, learning more about gas firing, and getting a good view of the way a production pottery runs.
A selection of my works are on show and for sale with The House
In the studio I’m developing a series of wet/dry vases influenced by ironwork railings and refining the form of some new slip-decorated stoneware jugs.
A second iteration of my ongoing collaborative project, COMMON PLACE is also in progress.
