Writing
These pieces of writing are a collection of some of my thoughts and ideas in relation to my art work over the years. It’s useful for me - and an interesting challenge - to give a more structured form to my thoughts, and my hope is that in doing so, conceptual commonalities between the works will be strengthened, and new directions for research and work-making will be revealed.
Personally, I find it is often the case that to read an artist’s own writing about their work enriches my experience of it. I am always interested to know what they were thinking about or were intrigued by while making, what they might have seen or an encounter they had that struck them as important for whatever reason. It gives a fullness and more rounded quality to the work; I hope my writing in its various forms does the same.
